In August 2018 I went on a 3 week trip on the US West Coast, part of which was spent driving throughout Southern and Central California. While popular culture had made me associate California with beaches and palm trees, I found its vast and mostly deserted mainland to be much more striking. In my images I looked for well known symbols and places, trying to reinterpret them and create a personal, almost antithetical version of the Californian Dream.
